Microsoft Interview Guide: Interview Questions, Answers and Details 2024 (Program Manager, Product Manager/Technical Account Manager and similar non-dev roles)
(Also applies for Product Marketing Manager, Associates, Operations Manager, HR/Recruiter and Business Managers)
Last update: October 25, 2024. (This update was a rather big one. I have updated the content significantly based on feedback and added more questions that were asked to my recently hired colleagues in similar departments.)
With the recent hiring slowdown and continued layoffs in 2024, getting an offer from Microsoft is much more challenging and it requires a perfect interview. Increase your chances by studying answers from recent employees that got them into Microsoft.
Contents of the Microsoft Interview Guide
– How to get an interview at Microsoft.
– The questions recent candidates have been asked. (More than 150 pages of recent questions & answers with category & type breakdown)
– Microsoft employees’ “winning” answers to them (Those were the answers that got them into Microsoft).
– Behavioral Questions for managers and individual contributors.
– Many other crucial information that will help you stand out.
We are pretty sure that this Microsoft Interview Guide downloadable book will help you a lot during your interviews. The questions and the process also apply to manager roles in different global offices since they have a pretty standard process across the board.
Microsoft constantly finds itself in the “Top Companies to Work For” lists, and it is not a surprise. With its products and services used by more than a billion people, it is one of the best-known companies in the world. This is a great guide for a new college grad. I don’t feel the example responses would be sufficient if you have more than 6-8 years of technical experience.

I confirm that it is useful for Redmond based senior product manager interviews. My interviews were pretty tough but Ryan’s document is pretty comprehensive. It makes your job much easier.

Better than anything I was able to find online and cheaper than “private” consultancy services. Used the questions heavily in my first 3 interviews. Highly recommended.

Agree with other reviewers. I’m using Ryan’s guide for my Reading based pmm interviews (azure) and it proves to be very useful. A lot of questions you can work on to improve your interview skills & answers given by MS employees help you see how to best approach the questions. Recommended.

I have only glanced questions so far because I’m preparing myself to interview with Microsoft, but so far it looks like they are good questions, specially the spreadsheet document. Thanks!
